Corporate World celebrates 25 years of F.R.I.E.N.D.S




Whenever I hear the word ‘Friends’, the foremost picture which comes to my mind is of six friends sitting on an orange couch, laughing and sipping coffee at Central Perk.

Yes, I am talking about the classic sitcom ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’; a peppy tale of six friends- Joey, Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Ross and Phoebe spreading love, laughter and friendship goals. It was first aired on 22nd September 1994 and since then it has served as perennial all-time favourite series across generations. It has been 25 years since the first episode was telecasted and since then there has been no turning back for friends as its popularity and craze has only increased over these years.

Harnessing the fandom of iconic sitcom, various companies all over the world launched campaigns to mark the 25th anniversary of ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’.

1.    Ralph Lauren : High-end fashion label Ralph Lauren launched a work wear range inspired by wardrobe of Jennifer Aniston alter ego ‘Rachel Green’. The collection will be on display at Bloomingdales, which is hosting a special installation in the honour of show completing 25 years.













2.    Google : Search ‘Phoebe Friends’ on google and in its search results she’ll sing smelly cat for you. Google employed Easter eggs in its search results for all 6 protagonists, some special quality or thing related to that character was used. People all over the world went gaga over this and every character has 2 Million+ searches and ‘Ross Friends’ even became the trending search on google.

3.   Comedy Central : This broadcasting channel took anniversary celebrations a few notches higher by organising one month long contest and awarding the ‘Wackiest Friends Fan’ with a paid trip to New York to participate in Friends 25 pop-up experience.
They also organised a treat for dedicated viewers by airing 25-hours marathon on September 22, from midnight on Comedy Central India. 


4.    Souled Store : Online shopping brand Souled Store 
     launched 25th anniversary special edition ‘The one with all the episodes T-shirts’ and offered 25% off on all Friends products.


5.     Pottery Barn : Could we be any more excited as Pottery Barn, High-end Décor Brand brought back their epic Apothecary Table. They announced special ‘Friends X PB’ Collection in the honour of the show which includes various Central Perky décor items.



6.    Lego : Toy Brand immortalised Central Perk in a 1070 piece set which includes which includes many special elements such as orange couch, stage where Phoebe debuted her song. It also features Rachel with her trays and coffee pot and Joey with beloved pizza. There’s a space for barista Gunther and his espresso machine. The set is on sale for $59.99 on Lego website.









7.    Dominos India : How can we even think of missing Joey special on Friends special celebration. Dominos launched 10 delicious pizzas @ Rs. 49 under ‘Joey special’ category.


8.    Warner Bros : Television Group which holds the rights for the series launched a comprehensive ‘Friends 25’ app, curated with memorable quotes from series, fun friends-themed frames, stickers and other such features.

Superfly and Warner Bros joined forces to create a pop-up event for superfans and provides unique experience where fans can sit on famed orange couch, Joey and Chandler’s Barcaloungers and even stick their head into thanksgiving turkey.




9.    Burj Khalifa : Dubai just paid the most amazing tribute to the cult classic, evergreen show Friends in the grandest way possible and fans all over the world cannot keep calm.
World’s tallest building Burj Khalifa and Dubai fountain paid a beautiful    tribute to the show on its 25th anniversary, during their popular light show. A synchronised performance with the fountain and the light, which featured the theme song of the show. ‘I’ll be there for you’ was organised.

In today’s competitive era companies are exploring every possible opportunity to grow, expand their Brand Visibility and come in the eyes of audience.
